    Re: Favourite Album

alright, I shall try and express my feeling towards my fav album.  due to the circumstances surrounding it. my fav album is by a long country mile,   my fav for the following reason.  I have to admit I thought around the time in the ghetto that steve earle was lost to us.    I thought that he was  just another guy falling by the way side. my fav is "train a coming."     The songs that make up this album i believe truely shows   SE at his very best.    Steve is carrying the touch of the all time story tellers on this album.  you guys know the stories and like me will paint a picture in your own minds eye.

it could be Caroline forced by circumstances to make the best of whats on offer (TVZ) ,   the boy trapped in an alley ....,   or even one of the brothers fighting with Ben mc Culloch.    however i have to give special mention to "The Hard Way."   How many of you reading this wouldn't get a rush if they were in a venue and Steve and a band burst into Justice .." ( all you who live .... )   but, let not be fooled.   Steve and our dear friend Jo (missintexas)   have worked hard against the demon who seek to undermind they both respective stablities. hell fuck ( sorry del) the man is held in such high esteem for one reason and one reason only. " he is the greatest living songwriter plying his trade today. !! "   If i was at a party and someone put on a Steve Earle album  I would be the first to beem and have a smile on my face.

its all good.   but the second coming was a joy to behold and "Train A Coming." was the starting point.   the guy we see today is a legend and we owe a lot to "Train a Comin' "

I am beaming, and I do have a smile on my face... barrowlands, what a great post. I think we all find it difficult to choose a favorite album, since they are all so great, but like you, Train a Comin' is my favorite overall.... it was the fourth SE cd I bought - This cd introduced me to aspects of music I had never experienced before.... bluegrass - Townes Van Zandt - Civil War songs - biblical stories - Beatles cover gone country! - Train songs - and a song that would forever change my life....."Goodbye" - it says exactly how I feel about a special someone I never got the chance to finalize things with before he left.... so needless to say, whenever I hear it, I tend to get a little teary-eyed..... Man, this is a great album. But like you said, if I  were to hear the band crank up Justice in Ontario, I would think THAT was from the best album... *jenny*

    Re: Favourite Album

Man I'm amazed that some would choose WSS as his best album.  To each his own I guess.  I like everything up to and including (especially) Transcendental Blues with the only exception being "The Hard Way."  Everything after TB - not so much.  Those of you that love TB as I do should really search out the version that includes the two bonus live cuts of copperhead road and sin city.
