For Father's Day i got the 30th anniversary edition of Springsteen's 'Born To Run' inc. documentary dvd, Hammersmith Apollo 1975 live dvd, remastered cd and book of photos. Great stuff from my son, remarkable taste for someone who's only 18 months old.

Mrs Tuco bought me the catalogue of Dylan's 'Drawn Blank' exhibition. Very nice too.

At the risk of trying to sound Too Cool, some local Tucson musicians, Stefan George cd, "Blue House" and with ex-Stone Pony (Linda Ronstadt's band) Bobby Kimmel, singers Jo Wilkinson, LaVinia White "4 Corners,"

Also, Australian folkie/altcountry singer/songwriter (happens to be the daughter of a family friend) Holly Throsby.

Justin Townes Earle's debut cd, "The Good Life" as well.  Named after Townes Van Zandt?  Big shoes to fill, but he does OK.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig Lazarus Dig.

Steve Earle - Guitar Town :-P

A lot of people around me listen to Nick Cave. I like the songs very much, but can't stand his voice and the sound arrangement.

Have a listen to The Birthday Party, his previous band, try Release the Bats. I really like Nick Cave he's an original. Watch his film The Proposition, great western set in Australia.

I just pulled an oldie back out.  Bob Dylan's Unplugged album.

I know The Birthday Party but I'm not that into Cave's early stuff. I liked The Proposition very much...a man of many talents!

Haven't listened to it yet myself. Is it as good as (or perhaps even better than) Ghost Reveries

Better than Ghost Reveries, IMHO. Not anywhere near Blackwater Park, but that is a tough standard to best.

Ok. Thanks, gonna check it out!

OK. I have given the album a couple of listens. This far I am not overly impressed, I think that Ghost Reveries is better and sound more organic. The songs on Watershed seems, to me, thrown together by different parts that don't really fit together, making the songs sound rather unconcentrated and forced. I also wished for more *GROWL* - hell, at times they sound a little too much like Jethro Tull in the 80's (and that wasn't exactly Tull's best era!).

All in all, an OK album, but not more. Maybe the album will grow on me after more listening sessions, but I find it doubtful.

Nick cave and The Bad Seeds are a bit easier on the ear than The Birthday Party. His last two albums Grinderman and Dig Lazarus Dig are well worth a listen
