     Rock on!

Agreed. Led Zep were a good band, but Sabbath's first four kills the entire Zeppelin discography.

I was going to chime in here in utter disagreement after reading the "Sabbath's first four kills the entire Zeppelin discography", but then I realized I would get my ass kicked by all the boys around here, so I've decided to just keep my mouth shut. Wink

LOL! Nobody's gonna kick your ass. Zep were cool, but The mighty Sab were heavier, more sinister and Ozzy didn't sing in a fake accent going "baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby" all the time - they win!

Ha ha, I was just messin around. Honestly, I totally love both Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, and you're right, Sabbath was definitely heavier and more sinister. Not sure what you mean about Robert Plant and a fake "baby baby baby".  Ain't nothin' fake about the way Bob "baby baby babies, if ya know what I mean...." Plant and Osbourne are awesome vocalists in their own right. Love em both.  I am a huge fan from way back, and I've seen Sabbath with Ozzy and Dio and Ozzy solo and Rainbow and Dio and am hoping to see Heaven and Hell with Judas Priest and Motorhead in August!!! Once a metal head, always a metal head. Devil I am Iron Maaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!!!!

I've got nothing personal against Led Zeppelin, I used to enjoy their music but it has just been so overplayed that I can't stand to listen to them anymore :(

I was a headbanger back in the 80s, saw VH, Ozzy, Sabbath, Judas Priest, Scorpions, et al. I got into Lyle Lovett while in college; he was the first "country" artist I liked. Although some would argue the country label :) At any rate, Lovett made it okay for me to like other country and ultimately Steve Earle Devil

Gotta diagree with the above I'm afraid. I love Sabbath but Led Zep blow them away.

    Re: The Dukes

When ever someone mentions Black Sabbath I can't stop myself thinking  about the back cover of Sabotage  and if you look closely you can see Bill Ward's nylon y- fronts through his tights , glamorous!

I much prefer Led Zep, although Sabbath's first album launched a whole new guitar sound.

    Re: The Dukes

I saw this group in Birmingham, Al.   Casey played violin, not fiddle. Very unusual group. But that is to be expected whenever Bela Fleck is around!

Sparrow Quartet is an American acoustic music group that formed in 2005. Its members include Abigail Washburn (banjo and voice), Bela Fleck (banjo), Casey Driessen (violin), and Ben Sollee (cello).

The band will release their debut album, Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet, on May 20, 2008 on Nettwerk Records.[1] Following the album's release, the Sparrow Quartet will embark on a one-hundred plus date tour of North America.[1]

Cool So check this out... I got both Roscoe and Custer on my myspace, and they both sent me a personal message  :)  Custer says he is starting up a new band called DWB (Dirty White Boys) and to look for some new tunes out soon.  I, for one, am very excited!

    Re: The Dukes

I remember Custer from the re-formed Skynyrd's "Last Rebel" album. Was that after he'd worked with Steve? Kelly Looney is ultra-cool. Eddy Shaver, God rest his soul, was a hot, very hot picker. I really dug the stuff he and his dad did. More under exposed stuff. Did Eddy have any other recordings? I read he was in Dwight Yoakum's road band at one point.     Oh, and no offense but hmm.hmm. I'd have to go with "the 'possum".

    Re: The Dukes

Custer recorded on Copperhead Road, then 2 albums with LS, then returned to Steve.

Beside collaboration wth his father, Eddy was touring and recording with Dwight Yoakum in 80s, played guitar on Todd Snider's Songs for the Daily Planet and probably touring too, (Steve wanted him for Copperhead Road), and !! in 1995 his solo CD "Baptism of Fire" was released - it's "must have"!!! And when I had written how enthuastic I had been about the CD on texicanmusic forum, Shavers' friend replied, that shortly before his death, Eddy had been preparing a brand new CD, which would have been several levels better than Baptism of Fire - that Eddy had learnt a lot in those 5 years. But we will never hear this... And anythng else.

Probably one of the last videos with Eddy
Honky Tonk Heroes from Unshaven. (Steve's fans may notice Craig Wright behind drums).

Don't rock the jukebox, wanted is George Jones!!!
