Big 'halo' from Cupar, Fife, Scotland

    Hi Folks

Great to see a decent site now, been a while since I visited. Steve must have decided to make a site more worthy! Hope that you all are doin fine... Upset and greetin, sob, sob, that no Scottish dates have been added to the European tour, damn. Last time saw Steve live was in the famous Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow's Gallowgate awesome! Cant seem to add an image in here though not in my profile choices, ah well no image, no gig. Still the Whisky will drown my sorrows...again!...and again ... Halo round the moon...

    Best wishes

    Jinky

    Hi mate!

Steve played Scotland in January my friend. Sorry you missed the gig.

Barrowlands is perhaps THE coolest venue I've ever been to. Saw Mogwai & Motörhead there (not at the same time - although it would have been an interesting mix!).

    Hi Bloodaxe

Thanks for the reply, sounds like my luck missin Steve's gig in January. Will have to wait my turn till next time!

Yeh the Barrowlands is a great venue, fantastic accoustics, seen loads there... The Cult, Soul Asylum, Steve E , Cracker and many more... Motorhead must have left your ears ringing for a while in that enclosed spaceSurprise.

Next event for me is T in the Park at Ballado http://www.tinthepark.com/ should be fun! All the best m8!

Oddly enough, Mogwai was actully louder (and better to be honest) than Motörhead, still good gigs both of them. T in the park had some cool bands this year, I would have gone to The Pogues, Primal Scream & Rage Against The Machine first and foremost. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

Only going to T in the P on the Sunday. Loved REM in the early days. Saw the Pogues with Shane on U2's Joshua Tree tour at Murrayfield they were all pissed but they were great they were promoting Rum Sodomy and the Lash, MacGowan came on stage and loads of folk threw tooth brushes at him... Want to see Alabama 3 (if they are doing Sunday too!?) , Kings of Leon, Primal Scream and the beer tent of course! Hope that the weather holds Lightning

    !

Lucky bastid!!! Wish I could have been there. Wasn't Ian Rankin born in Fife by the way? I wonder what he's gonna do now since Rebus is retired? I hope Siobhan will be the new lead character. Sorry... slightly OT, better drink my coffee now, toodle-pip!

    Hiya!

Good to see you! I've seen Rankin live twice myself, the first time I had a fever running & thought I was going to faint all the time, so that wasn't all that memorable, the second time I was fever-free though. It pleased me a lot that he is not only a great writer, but also a great human being! Who has a great taste in music:

    2. Rage:Man
    Performer Mogwai
    Composer Mogwai
    CD Title Mogwai:EP
    Track 4
    Label Chemikal Underground
    Rec No: Chem 036CD

    Thanks for the tip!

    Ian Rankin:
there was sadness, too, since Exit Music represents Rebus’s swansong, in that he has hit the age of sixty… the age at which a Detective Inspector in Scotland is forced to retire.  Plenty of questions were asked, and scenarios suggested which would keep Rebus going.  I’ve not made my mind up yet, and need to finish all the other projects hanging over me before I can contemplate the future of Rebus, Siobhan and Cafferty

Please, please, please let Siobhan take over the series Mr. Rankin. Otherwise there will only be Pelecanos left worth reading in the genre!

Beware of Stanley knives and Tennents!
