    Anything worth buying out there?

Any new music thats worth spending a few quid on?  Last album I bought was the new Danny and the Champions of the world cd, well worth splashing out on.

Anything by Drive By Truckers. The new one (Brighter Than Creation's Dark) is excellent but I'm also loving Decoration Day and The Dirty South. I've only discovered the band very recently but they're awesome - proper rock n' roll. Can't wait to see them later this year.

Other than that, the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album 'Dig Lazarus Dig' is also predictably excellent.

    Anything by Drive By Truckers.

    Including this:

Absolutely stunning soul album with the Drive By Truckers acting as backing band. Def. worth the money.

Try to find Hayes Carll's Little Rock. He just released a new cd that's very good as well, but Little Rock is the one to start with.

Thanks to Rich, the Unrepentant, from New West forum, at least me and missintexas are big fans of Chris Knight too. Aren't you The Unrepentant himself? ;-)

    Otherwise, Tom Russell of course.

How about anything from Todd Snider?  He's an amazing artist.

Just got back from seeing Todd Snider in concert in Annapolis, MD.  He was great (as usual!).  He did the show with a band out of Detroit called "WAS(Not Was)", so he didn't sing as many songs as I had hoped to hear.  Nevertheless, the show was worth the 4 hour drive.  I really lucked out, got Todd's autograph, gave him a hug and told him how much we appreciate him and his music.  Yeah, anything by Todd Snider is definetely worth buying!

PS:  From a personal point of view, his last cd "The Devil You Know", was NOT his best........

I totally agree with you there.  For me the high points were looking for a job and thin wild mercury.

In my opinion "East Nashville Skyline" is by far his best album.  I can't forget to mention his first though.  "Songs For The Daily Planet" is a classic.

Re: Anything worth buying out there?

The samples I listen to previously were a bit out of my taste, but this album sounds absolutely great!!! (Or at least the samples on Amazon). Thanks. Steve Earle's fans always have good taste in music.

I heard his name previously in connection to Billy Joe Shaver so I wonder how relatively young Tod is.

And there is even a Billy Joe Shaver cover. ;-)

Todd is alot like Steve in the way you never really know what you are gonna get from one album to the next.  Makes it fun I think.  Unless you are a hardcore fan I'd recommend staying away from Todd's album called "Peace, Love, and Anarchy"  It's a little out there even for him.

Re: Anything worth buying out there?

Last.FM recommended me a "Hayes Carll" today, when I played "simillar to Tom Russell" radio.

He sounds really great and is being compared to Steve or Guy Clark. Anyone knows him?
