Re: Magners/Bulmers advert & Steve Earle guitars
I don't have the money either but I tend to spend it anyway. I guess I'm lucky enough only to have myself to consider but I agree with you completely Missintexas. It pisses me off no end, yet I laways give in and pay the price. I've missed too many good gigs by deciding it was to pricey, so I guess iI use that as an excuse. I just make several other small sacrifices till it amounts to enough to buy the ticket. If it gets any further out of hand, I can really see myself not doing it anymore, for really big acts anyway. I'll be content enough if I have already seen them

Re: Magners/Bulmers advert & Steve Earle guitars
The most I've ever paid for a concert ticket was $80 dollars. Of course, that's after the "conveince" fee, taxes, surcharges, etc. I doubt I'd pay more than $100 for a ticket to anything really. I'd expect that if anything prices are going to rise significantly soon. As the cost of gas rises, the cost of touring goes up... and it isn't going to come out of anyone's pockets other than our own.

That was (I really need to make up a NEW word for this - but in the meantime...) revolting. I'm actually glad he's not around to see this. Did any of the so-called "fans" actually read the lyrics? Rest in peace little fellow, at least you are free of corporate greed and idiocy.
He's the one

And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he don't know what it means, don't know what it means

I read about that some where, nothing is sacred to these people.

Re: Magners/Bulmers advert & Steve Earle guitars
From my experience the Magners adverts are well crafted and use good tunes, but haven't swayed me to change my tipple. Galway Girl was a great choice of track and has introduced a whole new audience to Steve's music. I remember when crosstown traffic was used for a levi's ad. I didn't hang up my wranglers but started buying all Jimi's albums. All it takes is spark... Bands who don't sell out much #408: Black Crowes. The Black Crowes pumped up their sales by opening for ZZ Top on a tour sponsored by Miller Beer, which they were fired from on March 1991 after Chris Robinson sarcastically remarked about commercialism on stage. Right, off to trade in my 1975 Gibson for a Martin M-21!

Hi! Nice to meet you vikingice. Luckily, we are allowed to say what we want about major corporations and "DJ-ism" on this board without getting banned. The former doesn't work in real life though... Good luck with the guitar-swapping. Me, I'll stick to my trustworthy Jap-guitar!

walshie:I see the Magniers advert has now been replaced so all those predicting the end of civilization as we know it can sleep easy in their beds.
Nice avatar Walshie - seeing Silvio Dante play guitar for the E Street Band was quite surreal, I would have loved to see Paulie Walnuts in the band too. The new music for the Magners advert is 'Lazy Days' by the late, (very) great Gram Parsons. I've not seen it myself yet so I'm not sure if it's the Byrds or Flying Burrito Bros version or a cover.
