Re: Magners/Bulmers advert
Whatever happened to Anonymous? It didn't work for me so I joined Triple A. They'll give me a boost if I need it -or bring me some gas if I run out.

Re: Magners/Bulmers advert
I don't think there's any double standards there. Good luck to him making a few extra quid. At least he doesn't get precious about - there's little worse than a born again non-smoker, non-drinker etc if they start preaching. A couple of years ago Eric Clapton played at a vineyard down here. To commemorate it they produced a bottle of wine with his picture on the label. He got so offended by this, being an ex alcoholic and substance misuser, he spat his dummy played about half a set and went home. Apparently though, his "clean" status didn't prevent him playing 'Cocaine' - the twat!

Re: Magners/Bulmers advert
Eric Clapton is not only the most overrated guitarplayer in the world, he is also a dickhead. "Clapton was placed the centre of controversy when he spoke out against increasing immigration during a concert in Birmingham. Visibly intoxicated, Clapton voiced his support of controversial political candidate Enoch Powell and announced on stage that Britain was in danger of becoming a "black colony".[35]
These remarks helped spark the creation of Rock Against Racism when its founder, Red Saunders,
commented: "Come on Eric... Own up. Half your music is black. Who shot
the Sheriff, Eric? It sure as hell wasn't you!", in reference to
Clapton's first UK solo hit single, a cover of the Bob Marley song.[36] In a 2004 interview with Uncut magazine, Clapton called Enoch Powell "outrageously brave".[37]
He also stated that "My feeling about this has not changed really. We
have always been up to some funny business in this country, inviting
people in as cheap labour and then putting them in ghettos."[38] Clapton has also stated that "There's no way I could be a racist. It would make no sense".[39]
In his autobiography, he called himself "deliberately oblivious to it
all" and wrote, "I had never really understood or been directly
affected by racial conflict... when I listened to music, I was
disinterested in where the players came from or what colour their skin
was."[40]
In an interview with Melvin Bragg on The South Bank Show broadcast on 2 December 2007, Clapton reiterated his support for Enoch Powell and denied that Powell's views were racist." [From Wikipedia]

Re: Magners/Bulmers advert
Well maybe I just swallowed a bit too much of that ' pinko shit ' that draws me to the mans music, I would have to wait a long time for that combination of politics and country music to happen again. It's the 'Cows out in the corn' not Steve Earle that bother me. Part of the reason he can sing about what he feels is important is that there is no big record company telling him what he can say, so he doesn't have to hide it in obscure lyrics. I'm pretty sure the ad won't lift his profile, most of the people I know who drink Magners don't get further than the awful James Blunt. We could talk about this for years, and we don't know his reason for doing it, but I think using decent music for the purpose of promoting any product to be wrong. Tom Waits stopped a major car manufacturer using someone who sounded like from endorsing their products and I applaud that.

Kevin:It used to be the prefered drink of George W Bush, so I've been told.
Oh say it isn't so............ please..... I can't bear to see the words "George W. Bush" here in my Earle World........
Somebody somewhere said "love is a prison" but no one really wants to be free....
