The first Steve Earle song I ever heard was in my team roping partners truck. He asked me if I had ever heard of Steve Earle, in which I answered "no."  Well he put in a c.d. and the first song blasting out was "guitar town".  I have been a hardcore fan ever since.  I now own various dvd's and cd's of his music.  His autobiography is a damn good read.  Thanks, Soonersfan

hey feller...thanks for posting....you might be nearly as old as me...ha!!  no, i am pretty old, steve only has me beat by 2 years....i grew up just south of you in Texas, about 30 miles or so from where steve grew up as a matter of fact...i do have one over on him in that i am native born, but we can't hold it against him that he didn't get there quite in time, we have always claimed him as one of our own, even though i don't think he does that much for Texas anymore...that's okay, the austin area sure isn't the place it was in the 70-80s that was the greatest place in the world to grow up then....

hope you got to see Steve on this current tour, i've been blessed to have seen him twice on this one and he's coming back to Minneapolis on Sept. 1.....i've been up here nearly 21 years too long....naw, MN has its good points, just not the endless winter....

keep coming back, some of the best folks in the world are on this forum....

    take care...
