from the Winnipeg Folk Festival 2006

I volunteered that year and made sure I stayed til the bitter end to see Steve perform (Allison was there with him but not this night).  It was awesome, sitting under the warm summer night sky listening to him with his guitar and harmonica, for almost 2 hours (I think he was onstage until after 1 am). ahh memories..:)

    Before he came on:

    I love this picture:

some of mine from the side of the stage:

wow, you were so lucky!!!  i would have stayed, too, except at my age i find it hard to make it up until 11:00 pm these days!!

i've just seen Steve once now, even after being a fan since the earth's crust cooled...i would love to see him in an outside venue like that, i'm sure it was very special....

It was rough for me too, had a back injury too, so that shows my devotion, volunteering was mainly to get into the Festival to see Steve..:)  and getting there at 4 pm, staying til 1 am was no easy feat, but totally worth it! Alejandro Escovedo was there, Jerry Douglas the famous dobro player, along with Crooked Still (awesome bluegrass band), and Bedouin Soundclash and a few others.. great night! I miss Winnipeg for that festival alone!

Was there Tom Russell playing the song "Winnipeg" or a ghost of Ernest Thompson Seton reading his "Winnipeg Wolf"? ;-)
