Hi folks. My name's Stevie. I first would have heard Steve singin' Copperhead Road. It was a local rock dj an' a local country music dj at Radio 210 in Reading joinin' up for a show of crossover music one Christmas. I'd had an old Harmony mandolin that I'd bought years before ('cos it would fit on the back of my Triumph) but it had sat fairly unused. I loved the track from the first an' got into much more of his songs as time has gone on. I played bass guitar for many years in some rock bands an' a couple of country bands, pickin' up the mando with the country bands for Copperhead Road an' when I was given the opportunity to sing lead vocal as well, Johnny Come Lately.

From there I've now gone on to play all over the UK on the bike rally circuit, goin' out as STEViE - One Bloke One Mandolin. I started off playin' loads of Steve's songs within' my set but as time has gone on I have a fair few songs of my own in there now. I still play Copperhead Road, I have done since I started out on my own an' will always do so, it's the song that got me started doin' what I love, playin' to folks who enjoy what I do an' the songs of other folks that I play.

I've seen Steve a few times, both with The Dukes an' solo. I'm happy either way.  A superb craftsman with a song an' always a pleasure to listen to live or on album.

Now, I've been playing in various bands, on various instruments since I was 11. I don't throw a lot of praise around if I don't mean it. But you sir, you have a voice that KICKS ASS! I browsed through your songs on your MySpace and they blew me away. I don't know if you'll like this comparison, but at times - when you push your voice - you sound like James Hetfield would want to, and I mean that as a compliment.

Thanx very much for listenin' an' your comments Bloodaxe. I take that very much as a compliment. Some years ago I met King Diamond up at Roadrunner Records an' told him that on one particular track of his - Sleepless Nights - that he sounded very much like Jon Anderson from Yes. I was bein' honest an' thought I may get a bollockin' from him for suggestin' such a thing of His Imperial Blackness, but no, quite the opposite.

I listen to just about everythin' an' make a decision whether I like it or not based on that. As far as I'm concerned there's only three types of music .... That what you like, that what you don't an' that what you ain't heard yet, an' yes, I've got a song about that too. Did you get to look at the videos on my MySpace. The Copperhead Road one is a few years old an' I was pumped for it, I got up between a couple of well known bands at a rally an' had time for only two songs. I tell ya, I was just as knackered at the end of those two songs as if I'd done an' hour an' a half set. The other video was taken earlier this year an' it's a new song of mine.

Glad you like my songs tho, cheers for that. An' I'm lookin' forward to seein' Steve once again in June down in Brighton.

Hi haggis, I'm waitin' to hear about a bike rally in September for the Saints & Sinners MCC up in Scotland, I think it's the weekend of the 12/13, as far as I know they're still sortin' out a venue an' they ain't been back in touch just yet. If the gig goes ahead I'll let you know. Hey Bloodaxe, I have three solo albums by KD, I listen to them from time to time, Abigail is probably my favorite.
