it all started with with a Train a comin...

From there I moved to The Mountain and then I felt Alright. From there I followed El Corazon back to Guitar Town and ended up with the Blues. Checked out a few Live shows and ended up at Blue Bird Cafe. Now I find myself chasing trains through NYC and appreciating every step of this journey.

I thank Steve Earle for taking me along with him, and in addition to writing some of the best damn music out there for pouring himself out on the pages of Doghouse Roses. It's the perfect companion to most any journey and most assuridly through the unknown.

Funny, the Train A' Comin and Mountain were ones of my later pieces. I started with Guitar Town, Exit 0, El Corazón and Hard Way, not together, just in this order. It was spring and summer 2005. And I was chosing by samples on the internet.

Showing my age but Guitar Town for me. However, "Train A Comin'" is my favorite. To think he wrote some of those songs before hitting 20 years of age is amazing. Hard to pick a favorite song as he has so many.

I love solo acoustic stuff and Steve is such a solid guitar player, Train a Comin’ is one of my favorites. I am almost ashamed to admit I just started listening to Steve about 5 years ago when one of the guys in my band sent me a best of Steve Earle cd so I could learn Guitar Town. I started from there and went through his early albums, through the Del McCoury stuff (love it) and on to his later, more political albums.

hah! wralston1025.... I can beat your "just started to listen to Steve about 5 years ago..."

I discovered Steve Earle by accident - in the summer of 2007!! - I bought a $3 bargain bin cd called "Best of Country Rock" because it had some great songs on it, including "Guitar Town". I loved the song and was so curious to hear more SE, so I bought the "Guitar Town" cd and was so blown away.... I was an instant fan, and now have most of his music collection. He is by far my favorite artist of all time... his music touches me like no other... Music
